The decoration consists of a superb deep blue ground, subtly clouded and marbled with lighter and darker tones, creating a mottled cobalt-blue effect. These irregular tonal variations lend the surface remarkable depth and enliven the vase’s monochrome decoration. Fine gold bands highlight the upper rim and the base.

Entirely free of figurative or floral decoration, this vase is distinguished by the purity of its form and the intensity of its deep blue ground, delicately enhanced by understated gilding.
