A striking 1970s California studio craft centerpiece bowl by renowned ceramic artist Tony Evans (1942–2009). Celebrated for his mastery of raku reduction firing and complex multi-chromatic metallic lusters, Evans shaped this sculptural vessel with an organic, lobed silhouette and an expressive, canted rim that delivers dramatic visual presence from every angle.
The exterior displays his hallmark peacock luster finish, fluidly shifting through intense flashes of burnished copper, violet, cobalt blue, and petrol gold over a dark reduction clay body. The interior provides a radiant contrast, opening into an expansive, glossy pool of vibrant emerald and seafoam turquoise with delicate crackle pooling.
The unglazed carbon foot is hand-inscribed in silver slip: "Evans / raku / 73". An exceptional statement vessel ideally suited for collectors of California Modernism, Organic Modern, and late 20th-century studio pottery.

Process Characteristics: Contains authentic, firing-inherent features including fine glaze crazing, carbon flashes, and organic clay body variations. Base / Foot: Clean, unglazed dark foot with hand signature/date intact and three protective green felt pads applied. less
