A Victorian burled walnut Davenport desk bearing its original Edwards & Roberts label — the London furniture house established 1845 on Wardour Street, furniture makers to Queen Victoria. The label alone places her among the better-made pieces of her era; the burl veneer and carved detailing confirm it.
She has the classic Davenport form: slant-front writing surface in worn original leather, side drawers, carved supports, and the compact footprint these desks were loved for — a full writing station in under two square feet of floor.
Sold honestly, as found: the side door panel is missing, and the leather shows its age with surface wear and old paint flecks. She’s structurally sound and cosmetically true to her 160 years. The right buyer sees a project with provenance — the label does not come along twice.
