A charming signed oil still life dated 1989, depicting an old-fashioned coffee grinder alongside a glowing copper kettle. The artist uses a wonderfully earthy palette of olive green, umber, cream and burnished copper, with loose, expressive brushwork and highlights that give the metal vessels particular warmth and dimension.
Signed P. Pylkkanen and dated ’89 at lower right.
The painting has a quiet European country-house quality and an appealing sense of age despite its relatively recent 1989 date. The traditional subject matter and subdued colors make it particularly well suited to a kitchen, breakfast room, dining area or collected gallery wall.
Presented in a wide wood frame with a distressed antique-white finish that complements the creamy highlights of the painting while giving the overall piece a more relaxed, collected appearance.
