A wonderfully expressive vintage miniature painting depicting three children holding hands in a spirited game of “Round the Rosy.” Dating to approximately the 1960s, the work features loose, gestural brushwork and a vibrant palette of citron yellow, red, olive green, black and soft pink.
The painting is attributed to Dominic Mingolla and identified as his “Round the Rosy” subject; however, no visible signature is present, so the attribution cannot be independently confirmed.
Painted in oil or mixed media on wood board, the small-scale composition has a particularly appealing naïve, almost impressionistic quality, with visible brushwork and richly worked areas of color.
The painting is presented in a vintage carved wood frame featuring an allover dimensional floral and foliate design. Its distressed antique-white finish exposes darker wood and aged surface details throughout, giving the frame a beautifully timeworn, almost architectural character. The oversized frame transforms the miniature painting into a much more substantial decorative piece while emphasizing the jewel-like scale of the artwork.
A distinctive combination of mid-century figurative art and heavily textured vintage framing, well suited to a collected gallery wall, layered traditional interior, or an eclectic contemporary space.

The painting retains strong color and visible surface texture, with minor irregularities consistent with its age and hand-painted character. No significant losses or structural damage to the artwork observed. The vintage carved wood frame intentionally retains its aged, distressed surface, including areas of finish loss, exposed darker wood, rubbing, small chips and other irregularities throughout. These characteristics contribute considerably to its timeworn decorative appearance rather than detracting from the presentation. The painting has been newly installed in this vintage frame. less
