An important and charming pair of baluster-shaped vases in Paris porcelain, dating from the 19th century.
These pieces are distinguished by the high quality of their polychrome decoration, rendered in a naturalistic style, a theme very popular during the Second Empire.
The body of each vase, with its immaculate white background, features a rich composition of ornithological and entomological scenes. Each vase displays finely hand-painted birds in dynamic poses (an elegant goldfinch, a blue tit, and other songbirds).
The rendering of the plumage is remarkably precise, demonstrating exceptional artistic skill. The decoration is completed by various butterflies and flying insects, interspersed with climbing ivy tendrils laden with berries.
The neck and base are highlighted by a superb deep cobalt blue, enhanced with gold trim.
The upper rim features a wide band of fine gold.
Good overall condition.
Some minor wear to the gilding on the collars and bases.
