An exquisite example of early 20th-century American luxury, this antique Tiffany & Co. sterling silver and crystal jewelry box, dating to circa 1915, beautifully combines substantial silverwork with brilliant cut crystal and an elegant, architectural design.
The box is crowned by an exceptionally thick and heavy sterling silver lid, beautifully proportioned and marked Tiffany & Co. A finely turned finial rises from the center, providing an elegant finishing detail. The sterling silver base is particularly striking, featuring intricate open grillwork that surrounds the crystal insert and allows light to pass through the design. The box is elevated upon charming rounded bun feet, giving it a graceful presence when displayed on a dressing table, vanity, desk, or bedside table. The base is also marked Sterling.
Nestled within the silver framework is a wonderfully substantial removable crystal dish. The thick crystal is beautifully finished with a cut starburst pattern across the base, creating flashes of light when viewed through the open silverwork. The removable construction also showcases the exceptional quality and thoughtful craftsmanship found throughout the piece.
Measuring approximately 4.75 inches wide, 4.75 inches deep, and 3.25 inches high, the box has a substantial presence without being overly large.
