Original fine art print from Yaacov Agam’s celebrated Double Metamorphosis series, showcasing the artist’s mastery of graphic instrumentation and optical perception. Rendered in a monochromatic palette, the composition features a meticulous arrangement of geometric interruptions across horizontal bands that appear to shift dynamically before the eyes.
This particular impression is a Hors Commerce proof, hand-numbered HC 7/9 in pencil along the lower left margin, indicating its exclusive origins outside the standard commercial edition. The work is completed by the artist’s pencil signature in the lower right corner.
Yaacov Agam is internationally recognized as a founding master of Kinetic Art, renowned for introducing time, movement, and viewer participation into the visual arts. Born in 1928, Agam studied at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem before moving to Zurich to train under the legendary Bauhaus color theorist Johannes Itten. He eventually settled in Paris, where he established a career defined by his invention of the Agamograph—a lenticular printing method that transforms the composition as the spectator shifts their physical vantage point. His work is included in major public installations worldwide and held in the permanent collections of institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Centre Pompidou in Paris.
