Crafted in … Read more A beautifully preserved pair of solid teak steamer chairs, likely British in origin and dating to the 1920s–1940s. Crafted in old growth teak with hand machined brass hinges, flat brass washers, and slotted screws, these chairs embody the robust construction associated with ocean liner and veranda furniture of the interwar period.

The teak has matured to a silvery, honest patina, with traces of age and use that speak to decades of outdoor life. Recently cleaned and tightened, the chairs fold smoothly and remain structurally sound. They present beautifully as sculptural garden seating, poolside loungers, or as decorative objects with maritime character.

Local oral history suggests these chairs may have been used at the Roundtop Mansion Writers’ Colony in Wrightsville, PA. The previous owner’s family lived adjacent to the property, and the chairs were received as a gift from someone closely connected to the estate. While not formally documented, the provenance aligns with the age, construction, and long outdoor use of the pair. See less
