This is an extraordinary Qajar Persian engraved brass vase, dating to the mid- to late 19th century, with stunningly dense hand-chased and engraved decoration. Scenes include people gathered under a fruiting tree, animals, birds, and other figures—set against an intricate ground of scrolling floral and geometric motifs. The foot carries a fine herringbone or basket-weave band that is typical of the period.
Pieces like this were produced in Iran during the Qajar dynasty (1789–1925). Unlike earlier Islamic metalwork that often focused more strictly on calligraphy and geometry, Qajar engravers frequently embraced narrative and figural subjects—courtly or pastoral scenes, animals, and vegetation—worked with a free, almost storytelling quality.
A rare and exceptional piece, perfect for collectors of Persian art and antique metalwork, or as a striking statement object in a sophisticated interior.
