A striking, expressionist portrait by Montenegrin/Yugoslav artist Uroš Tošković, dated 1984. The work features bold, gestural linework and a rich palette of magenta, ochre, and ink black, framed within the artist’s own decorative hand-painted border — a hallmark of his style. The intense gaze and raw, emotive brushwork are characteristic of the expressionist tradition that flourished in the former Yugoslavia during the late 20th century.
