A surreal, darkly humorous take on the idealized Mid-Century American suburb, this contemporary photographic assemblage transforms a picture-perfect domestic scene into controlled chaos. Vintage pin-up figures, firefighters, a classic automobile, manicured lawns and an immaculate Mid-Century home collide with fire, flood and impending disaster.
Drawing on the visual language of 1950s and 1960s advertising, Americana and Hollywood fantasy, the work plays with nostalgia and the mythology of suburban perfection. Its highly detailed, cinematic composition reveals new characters and absurdities the longer you look.
