An impressive vintage solid brass door knocker with an ornate Neoclassical-inspired design. The substantial cast brass backplate features a central rounded medallion surrounded by scrolling architectural and figural detailing, with a fluted lower section and foliate finial. A large curved knocker incorporates additional molded decoration and gives the piece a strong sculptural presence.
The rectangular center plate provides a traditional area for engraving a family name or house number, or it can be left as is to preserve its aged character.
The brass has developed a warm, naturally aged patina with surface variation, oxidation, scratches, and wear consistent with age and use. The reverse retains its original unfinished cast surface and mounting points. Please review photos closely for condition and construction.
