Commanding in scale and rich with architectural character, this monumental vintage Mediterranean Revival dresser has been thoughtfully reimagined in a sophisticated combination of Old World Olive, exposed Coffee Mahogany wood and aged golden-bronze hardware. Measuring an impressive 69 inches wide, the piece offers exceptional storage and enough presence to function beautifully as a bedroom dresser, dining-room sideboard, buffet cabinet or living-room credenza.
Believed to date from the late 1960s to 1970s, the dresser is constructed from remarkably substantial solid pine. Its heavy construction includes broad solid-wood side panels, a thick 69-by-20-inch top, full one-inch-thick drawer fronts and a substantial wraparound plinth and shaped skirt. This is an exceptionally solid and very heavy piece, built with a degree of material weight rarely encountered in contemporary furniture.
The distinctive façade features six exterior drawers arranged around two sculpted center cabinet doors. The uppermost corner drawers have unusual curved outer edges that follow the surrounding architectural molding, while two exceptionally wide lower drawers—each approximately 31 inches wide by 7.5 inches high—extend across the bottom of the case.
Opening the two center doors reveals two additional full-width drawers stacked vertically, bringing the total to eight functional drawers. Each concealed drawer is constructed from solid wood and features a broad carved finger pull integrated into its upper edge rather than applied metal hardware. This hidden storage is one of the dresser’s most distinctive and practical features.
The broad top, completely flat side panels, outer case and structural framework have been finished in a mature Old World Olive. This is not a bright or conventional green. The color is a muted, browned olive with smoky gray and umber undertones, designed to read as an aged European neutral.
A hand-rubbed dark glaze settles naturally into the architectural recesses, joints and molded edges, giving the Olive finish depth and a softly aged patina. Subtle grain lines, joined-board construction and understated knot traces remain visible beneath the low-sheen finish, allowing the solid-pine character of the broad top to remain evident. Softly warmed high points and restrained hand-applied gold accents enhance the molding without creating a heavily distressed or artificially aged appearance.
The six exterior drawer fronts, two sculpted cabinet doors, raised panel moldings, decorative framing and substantial wraparound skirt retain an exposed-wood finish in a deep Coffee Mahogany tone. Long cathedral grain, dark latewood bands, natural knots and warm cognac undertones create remarkable visual movement across the façade. The wood was intentionally finished to preserve its natural depth and personality rather than imitate a flat, uniform factory surface.
Original oversized drawer pulls provide a magnificent finishing detail. Measuring approximately 4.5 inches wide, each pull features an elaborate pierced scrolling backplate with a substantial hinged bail handle. The hardware has been restored in an aged golden-bronze finish with darker recessed areas and softly highlighted raised details.
Each of the four smaller exterior drawers carries one centered pull. Each of the two long bottom drawers features two matching pulls and a centered decorative faux-keyhole escutcheon. The sculpted cabinet doors are fitted with long pierced flourishes and substantial round knobs in the same aged golden-bronze finish.
The combination of smoky Old World Olive, richly grained Coffee Mahogany and warm aged bronze gives the piece a collected European character while retaining enough restraint for a contemporary interior. The olive framework cools and softens the warmth of the exposed wood, while the gilded bronze hardware unifies the two finishes.
With its monumental scale, unusual eight-drawer storage configuration and one-of-a-kind finish, this is far more than a conventional bedroom dresser. It can serve equally well as a commanding dining-room buffet, living-room credenza, media cabinet, entryway statement piece or expansive bedroom storage cabinet.

This substantial solid-pine dresser has been carefully cleaned, prepared and refinished while intentionally preserving the natural depth, movement and character of the original wood. Our reimagining of this piece was not intended to produce a completely uniform, factory-new surface. The exposed Coffee Mahogany drawer fronts, sculpted cabinet doors, decorative moldings and substantial wraparound skirt retain visible grain, natural knots, tonal variation and minor age-related imperfections. These characteristics have been deliberately incorporated into the finished design, allowing the history, solid-wood construction and individual personality of the dresser to remain evident. The Old World Olive finish is intentionally nuanced and softly variegated. A hand-rubbed dark glaze settles into joints, architectural recesses and molded edges, while subtly warmed high points create the appearance of depth and naturally accumulated patina. Quiet grain lines, joined-board construction and understated knot traces remain visible beneath portions of the low-sheen Olive finish, particularly across the broad solid-pine top. The aged golden-bronze hardware displays darker recessed areas, highlighted raised details and natural variations in tone consistent with the intended Old World presentation. The restrained gilding along selected architectural edges is hand-applied and intentionally irregular rather than bright, continuous or factory-uniform. As a vintage piece, the dresser retains minor surface variations, softened edges, small marks and other signs of age and previous use. These details have been preserved where they contribute to the piece’s character, depth and authenticity and should not be mistaken for damage or deficiencies in the new finish. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the condition description. This is an exceptionally large, solid and very heavy piece of furniture. Professional delivery and careful placement are strongly recommended. less
