Striking vintage rattan lounge chair with a sculptural silhouette closely resembling Palecek’s iconic President’s Chair design. Crafted with slender pencil-pole rattan, wrapped joints, a gracefully curved back, substantial squared arms, and distinctive integrated storage/magazine compartments along the sides.
The chair features traditional sprung seat construction and retains its existing loose seat cushion. Its wonderfully aged white painted finish has developed authentic chipping, rubbing, and surface wear that gives the piece a relaxed, collected character.
A beautiful statement chair for a coastal, Palm Beach, British Colonial, traditional, lake house, or Ralph Lauren-inspired interior.
The design closely corresponds to the Palecek President’s Chair (No. 7765), which was inspired by furniture used aboard Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidential yacht, the USS Potomac. No maker’s label has been located, so the chair is being offered as in the style of / attributed to Palecek rather than as a confirmed Palecek piece.
