1904-07 teacher training in neuruppin
1908-10 studied landscape painting (with eugen bracht), art history, and pedagogy at the breslau academy of art
1910-14 junior teacher in the mark brandenburg and berlin-schöneberg
1914-16 military service until illness
1916-18 part-time officer cadet (jüterborg, döberitz), army draftsman
1918 continued studies in landscape painting with hans licht
from 1918 active artistic career
1920-30 lecturer at the schöneberg adult education center and the diesterweg academy
1943 family moved to templin to the family home
from 1953 active artistic and cultural career (in the working committee for monument preservation, in the nature and local history society, in the cultural association, and on the advisory board of the newly founded museum)
1964 after a serious illness, the couple moved to cologne to live with their daughter
1971 death of wife and relocation to overath
a street in templin was named after wilhelm wilcke

wilhelm wilcke's works have been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions.
most recently, in 2023, "wilhelm wilcke and his family: three generations of an artist family," museum of city history, templin.
