When I first saw this stunning work by Yuri Yuroz, I assumed it was an original oil painting, as he … Read more When I first saw this stunning work by Yuri Yuroz, I assumed it was an original oil painting, as he doesn't just embellish each serigraph in a new edition - he lathers enough paint on each one that you can't tell it is on top of a serigraph on canvas and is one of a series. You see all the strokes. (Don't confuse it with a print!) Hand-painted limited editions of this size in his various series sell for around $8,000 to $9,000 and up in a lot of galleries. If I did not see the edition number at the bottom, I'd never have known it wasn't a one of a kind original.

At any rate - what a beautiful painting and a glorious depiction of love. Yuroz immigrated to America from Armenia, and his struggles inform much of his work. He rose in the art world by sheer hard work and unshakeable confidence. In 2000 Yuroz the United Nations designated him as official artist for their 50th anniversary stamp honoring refugees worldwide, and later that year his mural was unveiled at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. Again, this is a mixed media/acrylic painted serigraph on canvas, signed lower right, numbered "145/150" lower left, presented in a black frame.

Good condition: Overall looks great, ready to hang, as you can see. Subtle 6-inch horizontal crease to mid-left center and some inpainting/over painting upper right corner. Upper left corner has some light sticker residue. Frame has a few nicks and scratches. See less
