The rug features an arresting allover pattern of large floral motifs in soft shades of ivory, pink, turquoise, blue, and green set against a warm rust-red field — a palette of unusual freshness and warmth. The wide navy blue border, where larger floral elements create a dramatic and harmonious frame, provides a formal completeness that anchors the room-filling composition with authority. Mahal and Sultanabad rugs, woven in the Arak (Sultanabad) district of West-Central Persia, represent some of the most generously scaled and decoratively powerful carpets in the Persian tradition.
