The piece features the distinctive, geometric shape of a rectangular tray with slightly contoured sides. The interior is coated with a deep red finish that contrasts beautifully with the dark brown patina of the metal frame and the dog figurine.

The central element of the composition is a realistically depicted, seated bulldog. The figurine was crafted with great attention to detail—the folds of the skin, the distinctive muzzle, paws, ears, and tail are all clearly visible. The bronze is covered with a natural, multi-tonal patina that highlights the sculpture’s modeling.

The tray most likely served as a vide-poche—a decorative container for small items such as coins, keys, jewelry, or other objects set aside on a desk or dresser. It can also function as a decorative desk organizer.
