Rendered in beautifully translucent amber and frosted crystal, the sculpture features exceptional textural detail throughout the camel's coat, legs, head and body.

The coloration graduates from warm amber and honey tones through softly frosted, nearly translucent areas, creating the distinctive luminous quality for which Daum's pâte de verre work is known.

Signed Daum France. A substantial and highly decorative example of Daum's collectible animal sculptures, dating to the late 20th century.

Daum is renowned for its pâte de verre technique, an extraordinarily labor-intensive process using fragments of colored crystal fused within a mold. Daum revived the ancient technique in the 20th century, producing the richly textured and subtly varied coloration characteristic of its sculptural work.
