Introduced in 1976, the Stenhammar collection is distinguished by its bold architectural form and dramatic vertical cutting. This substantial oval example features deeply cut, elongated facets wrapping the body beneath a sculptural flared rim. The cuts catch and refract light beautifully, giving the exceptionally clear crystal a brilliant, almost prismatic appearance.

At approximately 12" inches long and weighing more than 8 pounds, this is an especially impressive decorative object — substantial enough to anchor a dining table, console, coffee table or contemporary display cabinet.

The bowl retains its original Orrefors foil label and is etched with the Orrefors signature on the underside.

Gunnar Cyrén (1931–2013) was one of Sweden's most important 20th-century designers, working across glass, silver and industrial design. He joined Orrefors in 1959 and later became head of design. Among his best-known works is the Nobel service glassware designed for the 1991 Nobel Banquet, which remains in use today.

An elegant example of Swedish Modern design, combining impressive scale, exceptional weight and clarity, and the restrained geometric ornament for which Scandinavian crystal of the period is celebrated.

Condition:
Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks or cloudiness. Crystal remains exceptionally bright and clear. Minor light shelf wear and fine scratches are present on the underside from display and are primarily noticeable when viewed under strong direct light. The bowl was displayed in a china cabinet and was not used for serving.
