Rust-red corner spandrels and a small central medallion create balance and visual harmony, while a deep navy border with geometric florets in soft green, yellow, blue, and cream frames the composition with elegance. Pistachio green — whether used in the border or, as here, as the primary field color — is the signature and most coveted design element of the finest Farahan village weavings, and its use as the main field color makes this piece exceptionally rare within the tradition. Combined with the unusual allover paisley pattern, this Farahan Sarouk offers a combination of color and design that is extraordinarily difficult to find in the antique rug market today.
