Matching pair of vintage Italian black leather and tubular chrome lounge chairs, dating to approximately the 1980s. The sculptural design features suspended leather panels over a polished tubular metal frame, with strong Bauhaus and Marcel Breuer/Wassily-style influences.
These chairs originally belonged to my grandfather and have remained in our family since the 1980s. One chair retains its original “Made in Italy” label; the corresponding label on the second chair is present but has faded with age.
Both chairs remain sturdy, structurally sound, and comfortable for use. The original black leather shows attractive age-related patina and wear, particularly along some edges, while the chrome frames show areas of oxidation and surface wear consistent with their age. The chairs are being offered together as a matching pair. No designer or manufacturer attribution is being made, as the original maker’s labels are no longer legible beyond the surviving “Made in Italy” mark.
