Wonderful original antique Moulthrop movable school desk manufactured by Langslow-Fowler Co. of Rochester, New York.
Designed by educator Samuel Parker Moulthrop in the early 1900s, these innovative desks allowed the writing surface to be adjusted and the entire chair/desk to be moved around the classroom rather than being permanently bolted to the floor. Examples of the Moulthrop desk are held in the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
Beautiful oak construction with original-style black metal adjustable desk mechanism, contoured wooden seat, cutout carrying handle in the back and storage drawer beneath the seat.
The desk shows normal wear, scratches and character consistent with more than 100 years of use. Please see photos for condition.
