Charming vintage miniature original oil painting depicting a colorful rooster and two hens in a rustic farmyard setting, dramatically presented in an ornate gold-finish statement frame.
The diminutive painting measures just approximately 3” x 2.25”, yet contains an impressive amount of detail, from the rooster’s colorful plumage and individual birds to the surrounding straw, rustic barn and distant landscape. An indistinct artist monogram appearing to read “G.R.” is visible at the lower right.
The miniature scale of the artwork contrasts beautifully with its substantial, deeply molded frame. Measuring approximately 7.5” square and 1.75” deep overall, the richly ornamented Baroque-style frame gives this petite painting considerable visual presence.
Particularly appealing for a collected gallery wall, where the diminutive artwork and sculptural frame can provide contrast among larger pieces. It would also make a distinctive accent in a traditional, English or French country, cottage, or farmhouse-inspired interior.
The reverse retains an older identification label reading “Art - Oil 3 Chickens W/broom (gold Frame)”, as shown in the photographs.
