Pair of lamps crafted from gray-white glazed stoneware sake jars (tobin), Japan, first half of the 20th century.
Each jar features calligraphic inscriptions in black underglaze ink on several sides, executed with remarkable brushwork—names of trading houses and merchant districts (Yūkiya, Rokkōmachi) characteristic of Meiji-Taishō era commercial production.
Stoneware body with a slightly textured ivory glaze, ringed neck, squat ovoid shape.
Traces of wear and natural patina consistent with age and original use.
Completely new electrical wiring, installed by a professional electrician, compliant with current French standards.
Gilt brass socket.
Sold without lampshades.
European Plug (up to 250V).The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
