This handsome vintage Taitù Italy pewter picture frame, circa 2000, combines substantial Italian craftsmanship with the timeless architectural lines of Neoclassical design. Beautifully proportioned and impressively heavy, the frame has the presence of a small decorative architectural object while remaining perfectly functional for displaying a favorite photograph.
Produced by Taitù of Italy, a design house known for distinctive, upscale furnishings and luxury accessories for the home, the frame reflects the brand’s flair for bringing traditional European influences into sophisticated contemporary interiors.
The exceptionally well-made frame is constructed from thick, weighty pewter and modeled in the form of a classical architectural façade. A bold triangular pediment crowns the top, while stepped moldings and geometric detailing frame the photograph below. The softly aged silver-gray surface gives the pewter wonderful character and allows the sculptural details to stand out without appearing overly ornate.
The photo opening measures approximately 5.5 inches high by 3.5 inches wide. Overall, the frame measures 9 inches high, 6.75 inches wide, and approximately 7.25 inches deep with the easel fully extended. The reverse is equally nicely finished with a glossy wood easel back, allowing the frame to stand securely on a desk, library table, mantel, console, or bedside table. A newly replaced clear plexiglass provides a clean and attractive presentation while protecting the photograph inside. Good vintage condition with light signs of wear and use, one small area of loss to back easel corner. The frame is empty, no photo included. Please review the photos for further condition assessment.
With its substantial just-over-two-pound weight, this is far removed from a lightweight decorative frame. It has the solidity and quality associated with fine European home accessories and would be especially striking in a traditional, Neoclassical, Grand Tour, English Country, or collected contemporary interior.
