Antique Persian tile.
Description:
Blue & white design with black accents. The central motif is that of a fawn surrounded by flora and feathers, including flowers and a pomegranate. Kubachiware is made from stonepaste (fritware). This one has rich cobaly blue hues. Heavily influenced by Chinese pottery brought through the Silk Road trade routes. Authentic Safavid era, ca 17th century. Measures 7.75" across diameter.
Condition:
Overall very good. One chip on the edge as shown in the pictures. Otherwise as it was produced over 400 years ago.
