A narrative patchwork that originally emerged from Lima's shantytowns as a powerful artistic medium for women, stitching stories of hardship, survival, and communal resilience during times of severe upheaval. Titled "Cosecha" or "Harvest", it depicts yarn in a three-dimensional format of the hills and landscapes, connotes a lively, idealized day in a rural Andean village. Meticulously hand-stitched cloth figures with grazing livestock, native cacti, white-walled homes, and terracotta tile roofs artwork was exported in the late 20th century. The arpilleras were created almost exclusively by collectives of women in communal workshop galleries, working in church-sponsored cooperatives—one entire textile is beautifully illustrated in its authentic location, framed with decorative hand-hammered, dimpled Peruvian tin folk art as a complete, ready-to-hang collector's piece to bring a rich cultural history into eclectic, global, or Bohemian interiors.
