François Geoffroi ROUX (1811-1882)
"Frigate HMS Majesty's Ship Amelia"
This was a 38-gun Hébé-class frigate of the French Navy, built
in Brest in 1782.
She was renamed by the Royal Navy after her
capture that same year by HMS Dryad off Cape Clear,
Ireland. She served until 1811 under the British flag.
Watercolor, signed and titled lower right.
Dimensions: 42 x 34 cm.
Accompanied by an early 19th-century frame, circa 1820.
