The woman is portrayed in full face, with large dark eyes and a serene expression; her voluminous black hair is gathered high on her head in the 18th-century style. She wears a dress with a wide square neckline embellished with a finely detailed white lace trim and a bodice featuring gilded and beaded inserts. The background is completely dark and neutral—a technique used to highlight the luminosity of her complexion and the vibrant colors of her garments. The painting is set in a striking oval frame of gilded wood, decorated with carvings of overlapping plant motifs and foliage. Provenance: 18th-century France. General Condition: Good condition. Dimensions: 75x90 cm. Documentation: Certificate of Authenticity. See less
