This is a contemporary, one-of-a-kind ceramic table lamp base, a studio original made in the United States. It is finished with William Morris's Corncockle pattern, a botanical design from 1883 for Morris & Co., shown in two variations of the design on one bottle-neck vase form with a long, tapered neck and a wide, rounded shoulder. William Morris (1834 to 1896) was an English textile and wallpaper designer and the founder of Morris & Co. The lamp has a linen weave fabric wrapped neck.
The style is Art Nouveau and Victorian, and this statement piece suits English traditional and traditional interiors. The lamp is in fully working condition and has a new switch knob. It is sold as a lamp base only, with the harp fitting, and no shade is included. Use it on a console, a nightstand, a desk, a library table, an entry table, or in a sunroom.
