It is not two people, but one person caught in the space between restraint and release.

The closed eye carries effort, the kind it takes to silence your own thoughts, to keep yourself from slipping. But the eye in the darkness does not rest. It watches, restless and unyielding, like something inside that will not be ignored. Between them, a single tear falls, not soft, not gentle, but heavy, as if it has been held back for far too long.

The lips remain still, yet full, as though words live there, unspoken confessions, quiet pleas, things too fragile or too frightening to say aloud.

And “Don’t leave me” echoes differently here. It is not a call to someone outside, but inward, a plea to the self not to disappear, not to be overtaken, not to lose the fragile grip on who they are.

Because sometimes the hardest battle isn’t with the world, it’s with the parts of you that won’t let go. See less
