Handwoven in the Caucasus region in the first quarter of the 20th century, this vintage kilim embodies the authentic artistry of tribal village weaving at its most vigorous. Using organic hand-spun wool and natural vegetable dyes, the weaver created a striking stripe composition enriched throughout with geometric motifs — a format reminiscent of the celebrated Shahsavan kilims of Northwest Persia.
The palette of abrash blue, brick red, warm brown, saffron yellow, and ivory displays beautiful tonal variation — the natural result of hand-dyeing wool in small batches — a hallmark of genuine antique textiles and a quality that gives this kilim a warmth and depth that no synthetic-dyed textile can replicate. A century of age has only enhanced its beauty, producing a patina that anchors and enriches any interior it inhabits.
