Each vertical panel is composed of four hand-painted ceramic tiles mounted within an elaborately molded composition frame featuring scrolling acanthus decoration and a softly distressed blue-gray painted finish. The richly glazed cobalt decoration stands beautifully against the white ceramic ground.

One panel depicts a flowering botanical growing from an ornamental jardinière, while the companion features lush bamboo-like foliage with a perched songbird above a stylized lotus landscape. Both compositions are enclosed by decorative cobalt foliate borders, creating the appearance of antique architectural tilework. These appear to be hand painted.
