Most famously, the World War I armored cruiser HMS Cochrane was lost after running aground on Taylors Bank in November 1918, adding a fascinating historical connection to this classic naval cap.

While the exact date of this cap cannot be confirmed due to the absence of its original interior maker’s label, its construction suggests a likely mid-20th-century Royal Navy example. The original tally ribbon, traditional rear bow, and surviving trailing ribbon remain intact, preserving its authentic military character.

Condition

Good vintage condition with expected signs of age and service. The white canvas exhibits scattered staining and age-related discoloration consistent with decades of use. One of the original tally ribbon tails remains while the second is missing. The original interior label is no longer present. Structurally sound and an excellent display piece with authentic patina.
