an elegant drop-front secretary desk in black lacquered wood, in the boulle style, dating from the mid-19th century. Its clean, architectural lines are beautifully enhanced by rich gilt bronze ornamentation, including mascaron mounts, beaded moldings, keyhole escutcheons, drop handles, corner mounts, and sabots, in the purest spirit of the state furniture of the napoleon iii era, inspired by the designs of the cabinetmaker andré-charles boulle.

the desk is topped with an elegant veined black marble slab, providing contrast and refinement. The drop-front, adorned with a gilt bronze frame and a prominent central motif, opens to reveal a fully fitted interior with a tiered writing surface, six small drawers, a central drawer, and a writing tablet lined in burgundy velvet. This arrangement provides a workspace that is both practical and elegant.

the lower section comprises three drawers in the front, while an additional drawer is located beneath the marble top. The drawers are dovetailed, demonstrating meticulous craftsmanship. The entire piece is embellished with finely chased locks and bronze mounts.
