Attributed to the ribaillier house: bellifontain cabinet in oak and marble
artist: the ribaillier house
attributed to the ribaillier house: bellifontain cabinet with recessed oak and marble plaques, 19th century. The projecting façade opens with four doors carved with allegorical scenes and five drawers carved with feline heads and heads of figures in the antique style. The sides are adorned with double engaged columns: eight in total, giving an impression of architectural reinforcement. On either side, plaques of sea-green marble are arranged, lending the whole a feeling of luxury and richness. The upper section is a true architectural masterpiece: surmounted by a sculpted virgin and child and supported by two ribboned eagles (one head missing). The sculpture of the virgin is centered between two volutes positioned like monuments. The whole rests on three bases. The rectangular, cubic base is nestled beneath an overhanging cornice.
