Description:
A spectacular, highly collectible matched pair of 19th-century Wedgwood neoclassical candlesticks, explicitly documented to c. 1876. This pair represents an exceptionally scarce tier of Victorian-era production from the historic Etruria factory in Staffordshire, England. Both pieces feature the lone, cleanly impressed uppercase "WEDGWOOD" factory mark alongside the "W V" date stamp on their unglazed bases. Lacking any post-1891 country-of-origin markings, their true 19th-century antiquity is structurally guaranteed.
While traditional solid blue Jasper Dip pieces are classic design staples, this magnificent white-bodied variant is significantly rarer and highly sought after by advanced collectors. It features an uncommon neoclassical "barber pole" or spiral-twisted form, beautifully wrapped in cascading, vibrant blue sprigged foliage bands. The crispness of the bas-relief decoration is extraordinary, showcasing the hand-tooled definition and razor-sharp execution characteristic of Wedgwood's 1870s golden era.
The brilliant white stoneware column acts as a striking, neutral architectural frame that pairs beautifully with fine art glass, silver, or luxury mantel displays. This pair perfectly captures the coveted Grandmillennial, French Country, and Traditional aesthetics, injecting an imposing and sophisticated energy into any curated interior.
