The Danish designer and interior architect is considered one of the most influential designers of the 20th century. He translated the psychedelic aesthetic of Pop Art into the realm of interior design. Panton was one of the first designers to innovatively use materials such as plastic, foam, and rubber.

However, the innovator's designs fell out of fashion during the 1970s. A revival of the artist's work began in the mid-1990s, sparked by a *Vogue* cover featuring Kate Moss sitting on a Panton Chair. For instance, *Der Spiegel* had the "Snackbar"—originally designed by Panton in 1969—reinstalled in its new headquarters in Hamburg's HafenCity district, completed in 2011.
Verner Panton passed away in Copenhagen in 1998.

Panton designed the One Lounge Chair in 1955 for use in living areas, on terraces, or in gardens. Hand-woven polyurethane cords form the seat and backrest of the piece. The cords are UV-resistant.
