Raymond. Richly decorated in soft blue, gold, and silver tones, the composition combines Islamic calligraphy, Ottoman architectural forms, celestial motifs, and ornamental borders into a highly decorative Art Deco-era interpretation of Islamic design. The scene depicts a monumental Ottoman mosque framed by elegant minarets beneath a star-filled sky. Delicate Arabic calligraphy appears within the decorative cartouche above, while crescents, stars, and radiating celestial forms create an ethereal atmosphere. The border is filled with repeating Islamic arabesque ornament rendered in metallic tones, reflecting the influence of traditional Ottoman decorative arts. Alexandre Raymond was among the foremost documenters of Islamic architecture in the early twentieth century. Working extensively throughout Turkey and the former Ottoman Empire, he produced a series of luxurious folios recording architectural details, inscriptions, windows, portals, and decorative motifs from important Islamic monuments. These publications were intended both as scholarly references and as artistic celebrations of Islamic craftsmanship. The title page is among the most visually appealing images from the series and stands beautifully as a decorative artwork in its own right. Its combination of architectural imagery, calligraphy, and refined color palette makes it particularly suitable for collectors of Islamic art, Ottoman architecture, Middle Eastern decorative arts, and early twentieth-century design. This is an original 1924 chromolithograph, not a reproduction. We sell the print unframed. Any framed images are shown for display inspiration only. Condition: Good antique condition with age-related toning, minor handling marks, and light wear to the margins. Colors remain attractive and well preserved. Please study the images carefully. Framing tips: This print works particularly well in a dark walnut, ebonized, or gilt frame with an ivory or warm white museum mat. The subtle blue and gold palette complements both traditional and contemporary interiors. Technique: Chromolithograph Maker: Alexandre M. Raymond, Constantinople (Istanbul), 1924. See less
