Handwoven in western Anatolia in the mid to third quarter of the 1800s, this rug is composed in the traditional prayer-format layout, lending both spiritual symbolism and architectural elegance to the design.

A glowing brilliant red field forms the foundation of the composition, while luminous shades of green and blue—achieved through the use of natural vegetable dyes on hand-spun fine wool—float across the surface with remarkable clarity and depth.
