Commissioned for a private collection, it features an exquisite architectural crest accented by delicate turned spindle galleries, incised gilt geometric carvings, and stylized fans. The lower body boasts a highly functional drop-down portfolio cabinet secured by original chain stays, perfect for storing prints, sketches, or documents. Built with a sturdy folding tripod structure, the display ledge is cleverly engineered to adjust up and down across four preset points to accommodate various canvas sizes. The original ebonized finish has rubbed thin on some corners and edges, warmly revealing the natural cherry wood beneath. True to its history, there are light, scattered paint splatters from decades of dedicated studio use, with the adjustable painting ledge showing the most significant finish wear. The structure remains sturdy, the adjustable mechanism functions, and the portfolio cabinet hinges and chain stays are fully functional. Some wood loss pictured particularly in the back where you can see the cherry wood on the upper right.
