Produced in Denmark by De Forenede Jernstøberier, this complete example retains its original iron serving stand wrapped in handwoven rattan with elegant teak legs. Conceived as sophisticated "oven-to-table" cookware, the stand allowed the hot casserole to move seamlessly from the kitchen to the dining table, reflecting Quistgaard's philosophy that functional objects should also be beautiful.

Finished in a rich cobalt blue enamel, the sculptural form is as striking today as it was seventy years ago.
