A sophisticated example of early twentieth-century luxury craftsmanship, this elegant 1920s antique call card case embodies the refined style associated with Europe's finest leather goods and accessories. Beautifully clad in richly figured croc-pattern leather, the case is accented by sleek silver mounts that provide a striking contrast to the warm caramel and chestnut tones of the leather. The clean geometric lines and understated elegance reflect the timeless influence of the Art Deco era.
Measuring 4 inches wide, 3.25 inches high, and 0.50 inch deep, and weighing 2.1 ounces, this compact yet substantial piece has a wonderfully rich presentation. Adding to its desirability, one of the silver mounts is stamped 935 silver, a high-grade continental silver . The interior retains its original gilt-tooled retailer's mark for Kendall & Co., Paris (17 Rue de la Paix), a distinguished British luxury retailer that maintained fashionable boutiques in several of Europe's most prestigious capitals, catering to an elite international clientele during the early twentieth century. Good antique condition with light signs of wear and handling to the leather. A few small indents to the silver trim. Please review the photos for further condition assessment.
Originally designed to carry calling cards or cigarettes, this handsome case can easily be repurposed for modern use as a business card holder, credit card wallet, money clip alternative, or elegant desk accessory. Its luxurious materials and impeccable styling make it equally at home on a gentleman's desk, in a handbag, or displayed as part of a collection of fine leather goods and Art Deco accessories.
It remains an exceptional example of luxury craftsmanship from the golden age of European leather goods, offering both historical significance and enduring decorative appeal for collectors of Art Deco, luxury accessories, and fine antiques.
