Sansuga: landscape painting. Lakeside or by the lake is inscribed on the right hand side in calligraphy. I believe it is on silk. Formal grid like pattern up close, and some sheen in light. Features Pine trees or Matsu. White-varied birch in the foreground, mountain backdrop. The Pine symbolizes steadfastness, prosperity and longevity in the Japanese culture. This piece is rendered in a traditional ink and wash that leans heavily into Nihonga style artistry: with muted green, brown, and tan tones. It has the original traditional wooden roller(tomobako) at the bottom for hanging and storage. Some wear from age. Original parchment to keep moisture is wrapped around the Kakejiku, to keep it safe from temperature damage. From a private collection of art, by the previous owner of a local historical house.
Measures 53 inches in full length, without including the wooden roller. Width is 16 inches.
Has traditional red Ink stamp/seal of authenticity (Hanko) along with artists name.
