This is a vintage F.B. Rogers Silver Company round, footed covered casserole or buffet serving dish #1158.
Physical Features
Material: The piece is crafted from silverplate over a base metal. It features a bright, mirror-like polished finish that reflects light heavily across its domed surface.
The Lid: A high-domed, removable cover sits flush within the base to trap steam and heat.
Lid Handle: The top handle features an ornate, open-loop Victorian-style floral or leaf design, acting as a prominent decorative finial.
The Rim Edge: The outer perimeter of the base frame is embellished with a continuous gadroon or twisted-rope border design, adding classical texture.
The Base & Feet: The frame is elevated by three ornamental, scrolled feet that arch outward to stably lift the hot dish off delicate table surfaces.
Manufacturing Context
Markings: The underside is typically stamped with the F.B. Rogers crown trademark and "1883" (the year the company was founded in Taunton, Massachusetts).Function: It is designed to act as an elegant insulating cradle for a removable Pyrex glass baking bowl. This allowed food to go straight from the oven into a sophisticated presentation for holiday tables or buffet lines.

The only condition issue that is of note is that the original glass bowl is no longer included with the piece. The replacement appears to be a bit too tall which causes the silver lid to rock slightly when placed on top. The price reflects this, but note, it isn't difficult to find these inner Pyrex bowls and doesn't deflect from the overall value of the piece. less
