This large-scale Hollywood Regency style tessellated horn and bone inlay vanity chest is a stunning statement piece. Executed in the highly collectible style of Maitland-Smith, the exterior features an architectural rare mansard-roof silhouette covered in polished, genuine hand-cut bone and horn tiles. A beautiful hexagonal tiled mosaic pattern creates rich organic textures and striking tonal variations. It is finished with a reflective, high-gloss lacquered resin topcoat and elegant brass accent hardware. The double-decker interior is lined with a soft neutral faux-suede to protect your valuables. It includes a removable 2.25-inch deep upper tray sitting above a divided lower base with built-in ring rolls. Total dimensions measure 15 inches long by 10 inches wide by 9 inches high.
Collection Provenance: This piece belongs to a single-owner, matching luxury collection originally acquired together on the same day from an upscale estate in Nantucket, Massachusetts. While the fragile paper inventory tracking tags on this particular item have naturally worn away over time due to handling, it is a guaranteed, authentic Maitland-Smith production. It shares the identical high-gloss lacquered resin finish, country of origin, and artisan hand-cut bone tile construction as the fully labelled anchor pieces from this exact same purchase.

Structurally sound with smoothly operating swing-arm clasp hardware, a clean soft neutral faux suede-lined multi-compartment interior, and four secure wooden bun feet. Shows minor surface characteristics consistent with age and the organic materials used, including natural hairline gaps, areas of original artisanal factory tile filler, and a few scattered minor cosmetic flecks/chips to the dark horn veneer layer on the lid and front edge. All tile work remains stable, safely intact, and blends beautifully into the heavily variegated natural patterning of this striking statement piece." less
