Its near-cubic form is intentional — shaped to reflect the geometry the beam already held before the Yakisugi process transformed its surface. The limestone element contributes its own prior history; the two together produce an object of notable material density for its size.

The Raw Collection builds from recovered material — barn beam wood, stone offcuts, discarded marble fragments. Yakisugi charring and natural oil and beeswax finishing prepare the wood; hand-carving shapes as needed. No synthetic materials enter the process.

The material history of timber and stone remains fully visible in the finished piece — charred grain, raw limestone, the lamp's geometry echoing the forms the materials already possessed. Where light reaches the surface, it finds texture that was never intended to be even.
