Its origin is a repurposed dining chair, transformed through the Yakisugi charring process until the domestic form is absorbed into something heavier: white marble remnants pressing into darkened wood, the chair's original purpose dissolved into mass and material weight. It occupies a room as a fragment of demolished structure might.

The making begins with a repurposed dining chair and marble remnants. The wood is charred using Yakisugi, then finished with natural oils and beeswax. The piece carries the full history of its transformation — the chair's former geometry visible within the object's new identity.

What remains is a work of considerable material presence: dark, dense, and marked by process. Each surface records what the making demanded of it.

For curated interiors — beside a wall, at a corridor's end, or as a room's focal point. Does not require a plinth. One of a kind. See less
